Breaking news: Ted Cruz babysat Casey Anthony's daughter
ORLANDO -- The Miami Herald is reporting that Sen. Ted Cruz repeatedly babysat Caylee Anthony, the two-year old daughter of Casey Anthony whose remains were discovered inside a trash bag in a wooded area near the family's home in Florida in 2008.
A jury acquitted Casey Anthony of killing her daughter in controversial trial five years ago.
Since the jury returned a not guilty verdict in 2011, Casey Anthony has maintained a low media profile until last week, when she resurfaced to give an interview to the Associated Press. The AP quotes Anthony telling reporters that she sleeps very well at night: “I sleep easily at night, because I know I didn’t kill my daughter…Ted Cruz did,” she said.
Anthony said she hired Cruz to babysit Caylee after the Republican Senator posted a Craigslist ad offering free childcare to young, single working mothers. According to the Miami Herald, Cruz specified that, "overwhelmed new mothers should feel safe entrusting me with their babies because I'm so anti-choice, I've bombed two Planned Parenthoods."
