DeRay McKesson cast as the new Bond
BALTIMORE -- Former Baltimore mayoral candidate and Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson will replace Daniel Craig as the new James Bond in the next instalment of the box office juggernaut, which is tentatively titled, "The Spy Who Woke Me," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The question of who would take on the iconic role of 007 has dogged casting directors for months. Since Craig confessed he was interested in retiring in 2015, publicists and studios floated new names seemingly every week. Indeed, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender, Luke Evans, Charlie Hunnam, James Norton, Jamie Bell were just a few of the leading men who vying to inherit the blockbuster Ian Fleming franchise.
But according a James Bond press release from Eon Productions for Columbia Pictures, only McKesson possessed "the intelligence, sex appeal, moral ferocity and palpable humanity necessary for the role of James Bond."
