Texas lawmaker accuses cherry blossoms of promoting feminist agenda on government property

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Every year, thousands of people flock to the nation's capitol for the National Cherry Blossom Festival in order to witness the glorious blooming of 3,000 cherry blossom trees that were first gifted to the United States by Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki in 1912.

While most people love watching cherry blossoms burst into life and seeing their pink petals flutter down like snow, this year, the miracle of nature is alienating some conservatives, according to the Washington Free Beacon. 

In an interview with the Beacon, Tony Tinderholt -- a Texan state representative -- said he was disgusted by this year's blossoming: “We know Hillary Clinton, a woman, is president. They don’t need to rub it in our faces with these pink flowering things. Must everything be a political statement?”

Tinderholt accused the trees of "promoting a feminist, pro-Planned Parenthood agenda" on government property. 

An article in Breitbart News went into further detail, postulating that President Clinton could have genetically modified the pink color in the “helpless trees” to "further her feminazi propaganda.” Another article published by The Daily Caller simply suggested the trees are blushing because they are “embarrassed to have Hil-LIE-ry as president.”

The festival is expected to have record-level turnouts this year.
