New York Times’ editor acknowledges paper's "irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton" has gotten out of hand, staff enters 12-step program
In the run up to President-elect Hillary Clinton's inauguration, on Tuesday, New York Times editor Dean Baquet announced that every reporter and editor working on the storied newspaper's political desk would enter a 12-step program to address the institutions' long-standing "hatred of Hillary Clinton," a condition that has worsened over the years.
"The fact of the matter is that Hillary Clinton is one of the cleanest, most virtuous politicians in American history, and we haven't ever given her her due as feminist icon and good-government paragon because of our sick belief that she is somehow evil," Baquet told Politico's Glenn Thrush in a wide-ranging interview.
"We first realized we had a problem with Hillary during the election when reporters kept irrationally insinuating that she was corrupt, insufficiently liberal, and "not a woman." Acceptance is the first step to recovery. I apologize to the President-elect," Baquet said.
Maureen Dowd was refusing to go.
